Location: Philadelphia, PA
Client: Logan Square Neighborhood Association, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation
Size: .6 acres
Project status: Construction complete 2021.
Project team: Ground Reconsidered (Project Prime), KS Engineers, VJ Associates
Created from an unused traffics lane and re-appropriated parking area, the Winter Street Greenway and Rob Stuart Memorial Dog Park celebrates community and the power of public space. Working with the Logan Square Neighborhood Association and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Ground Reconsidered transformed what was an underutilized open space at 21st and North Winter Street into a vibrant and active green ribbon.
The playground includes equipment for children from 2-12 years of age including a climber, hammock swing, and small wooden boat, as well as trees and hardy colorful plantings. The dog park includes small and large dog areas with turf and foundations. A grassy mound with accent benches and boulders serves as an expansion green barrier between the playground and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The greenway is a popular space for local families and visitors to attractions in the area.
