Roberts Center for Pediatric Research

The Roberts Center for Pediatric Research, a new clinical research building for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHoP) is sited on a 6-acre parcel on the east bank of the Schuylkill River across from the institution’s main campus in West Philadelphia. The new facility supports scientific research, clinical research, office and support functions and is the first of several major new buildings planned for the site. Ground Reconsidered, as a key member of the design team, was responsible for site planting design featuring a bio-retention rain garden and boardwalk and for the documentation of the entire public realm, including plazas, grand processional stairs, complex seat walls and multiple pavement types. The Roberts Center for Pediatric Research has achieved LEED-Gold certification.
