Recreation Areas and Playgrounds

Ground Reconsidered believes that all children in the City of Philadelphia should have access to a safe outdoor play space within their neighborhood. Unfortunately, there are many communities where public facilities don’t receive adequate funding for maintenance and many playgrounds fall into poor repair. Our firm has worked with City agencies for over two decades providing site analysis, community liaison, design and construction observation services for much needed site improvements at over 100 recreation areas and playgrounds throughout the city. While the budgets and scales of these projects are modest, we believe that these improvements create places where children can experience a sense of wonder and adventure and test themselves within safe and renewed play environments. The firm’s close coordination with the client, the constituents of each recreation site and the installation contractor ensures, that despite limited resources, the best possible project is realized.
