Cira Center Plaza

Previously used as a smoking outpost, the plaza adjacent to the front entrance of the Cira Centre was ripe for improvement. Our intervention transformed this sparse concrete plaza into a warm, inviting terrace. An Ipe wood deck was installed over the concrete structural slab (the plaza is over a garage), a custom designed screen wall/trellis mitigates the prevailing winds and views of the adjacent garage entrance as well as supports several large video screens. Modern work tables, stools and power pedestals were positioned in combination with custom built bench structures and loose tables and chairs throughout the plaza. A carefully curated selection of plants were installed in new large planters as well as in the pre-existing perimeter planters. The plaza is now a well-scaled and comfortably furnished place where the building tenants can work, enjoy lunch or recline during a break.
